February 10th - March 17th - Meditations For A Happy And Meaningful Life

Throughout these classes we will look at inspiring meditations from The New Meditation Handbook by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Each class will explain a different meditation and how it can be practically applied to our daily life.
* A clear introduction to meditation and its benefits
* A step-by-step guide to 21 meditations on the path to enlightenment
* How to develop and maintain happier and more peaceful states of mind

February 1st - March 15th - Meditations For A Happy And Meaningful Life

The Lamrim, or Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, is a condensation of all of Buddha's teachings into 21 main meditation topics. During these classes, we will introduce these meditations based on the instructions in The New Meditation Handbook by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Through continuously practising these meditations we can gradually solve our daily problems and develop a peaceful mind and long lasting happiness.

February 1st - The benefits of meditation
February 8th - Our precious human life
February 15th - Contemplating life's certainties
February 22nd - Where do we come from, where do we go?
March 1st - Refuge Practice
March 8th - Actions and Effects
March 15th - Developing renunciation

Each class includes guided meditations, a talk, discussion, and tea and biscuits. They are self contained and open to everyone. There is no need to book, just turn up on the night.
No previous meditation experience is required and there is no need to wear any special clothing; we use ordinary chairs for seating although you are welcome to bring a meditation cushion if you would rather sit on the floor.



Interested in more classes? You can spend the morning, an afternoon or a whole day learning more about your mind, how it's condition affects your life and what you can do about it... A vegetarian lunch is usually available, please let us know if you are coming so we can make sure there is enough for everyone! Here is a selection from the many courses coming up in Bristol...

Sunday 21st February 10am - 1pm - Healing our broken heart - at Amitabha Centre in Bristol

We all suffer the pain of separation from the people and things that are close to us. This course will explore a variety of meditations which we can draw on in times of need that can ease and soothe this pain.

Sunday 21st February 2pm - 5pm - Medicine for the mind: The benefits of meditation and how to experience them - at Amitabha Centre in Bristol

Through practicing meditation correctly we can pacify our turbulent states of mind and enhance the positive states. This experience of inner peace is the basis for pure lasting happiness.
